Low Tyed @ the Georgia Bar 7 20 12

Later in the month I would see Scott Low perform solo at Farm 255 (www.farm255.com) and then in my living room. I mentioned Jody Hackel (from Columbus) last month and I have to again. I didn’t mention that he is a doctor, has the nicest house I have ever been inside of and he’s still as down to earth as they come. He came to Athens a few months ago to visit, saw Low perform and liked what he heard. Move forward a few months and Jody wanted to have a party at his house, so he contacted me and I worked it out with Low. Low wanted to put on a show for Jody so he asked Tyrus J. Manning III (Tye) of the Bearfoot Hookers (www.thebearfoothookers.com) to join him and…low and behold….Low Tyed was born. I call it Athens first two person Supergroup playing a huge helping of swamp rock drowning in thick country gravy. There is not a song that these guys can’t make their own. Tye looks like an overgrown garden gnome, a dirty Papa Smurf, like Jerry Garcia, Neil Young and Hank Williams Jr. & Sr. got together and…well never mind, they don’t come any nicer. Just like Donnie and Marie, Tye is a bit more country and Low is a bit more Rock’N’Roll. They’ve got over 40 years of music between them and they’ve respected each others work for years. I hope to see Low Tyed become a regular thing. They practiced in my living on a Thursday, played a Happy Hour show at the Kumquat Mae in Watkinsville on Friday, then played a rowdy set at the Georgia Bar that night, and Jody’s the next day. Low put the Georgia Bar show together at about 3:30PM on Friday and enough great musicians showed up that he could have had a battle of the bands. Low, Tye, Scotty Nicholson, Shawn Patrick, Adam Poulin, Clarence ‘Big-C’ Cameron, Doyle Williams and more rocked the rafters at the Georgia Bar.
